Divyanka Tripathi raised the issue of the safety and security of women in the country

Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actress Divyanka Tripathi has taken to Twitter to express her anger over the incident of gang rape of a minor girl in Chandigarh on Independence Day. In a passionate tweet, she raised the issue of the safety and security of women in the country. 

A 12-year old girl, who was returning home after attending an Independence Day programme at school, was allegedly gang raped at knife point in Chandigarh.

The popular actress tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in her post and asked him about ‘Beti Bachao’ campaign and how the campaign failed on the very same day India celebrated its 71st Independence Day.


Divyanka, who is known by her screen name ‘Ishita Bhalla’, posted a series of tweets and asked all the political parties to act fast and provide enough security to the women of the country.

The ‘Nach Baliye 8’ winner said she was shocked by the hideous incident and even expressed her fear of having a baby girl.
