After creating much of the buzz over its weird story scripts, Sony’s popular soap and serial 'Pehredaar Piya Ki' is under spotlight yet another time. An unnamed source from the show has come up with an explanation in support of its shocking storyline, after a petition, addressed to Smriti Irani, Union Cabinet Minister of Textiles and Information and Broadcasting (Additional Charge), has been filed to get the show off air.
"It is such a futile attempt by people. The show is nowhere promoting child marriage nor is it showing anything objectionable. The suhaagraat sequence that people have been bashing had the lead Diya (Tejaswi Prakash) actually standing up against the ritual. She also mentioned that their marriage is for a cause and not to enjoy the marital pleasures. When we are giving out such strong messages, why do people need to file petitions? It's an unnecessary criticism and completely unjustified," the unknown source was quoted while interacting with 'The Indian Express'.
The petition to get the TV serial off air has been started by two women — Mansi Jain and Shobha Shrivastava — on change.org. It has already earned over 1 lakh signatures till the date.

"It also happened in 'Game Of Thrones'... People love 'Game Of Thrones' and if same thing happens in Pehredaar Piya Ki, then it’s an issue," Tejaswi Prakash stated in an interview to IANS.
Actor Suyyash Rai has also expressed his rage over the same. Talking about the matter Suyyash said, "How much time these people have to start such petition. Tell me did we show them having sex that there’s such a hullabaloo over the suhaagraat sequence. And there is no honeymoon sequence. It’s all imagined by these critics to pull our show down. The producers have been in the industry for a long time and do know their job well. It is not just an entertaining show but it is also helping so many people earn their living. People are only targeting us because it’s a different show. I can only say that don’t watch the show if you don’t like it, but don’t put so many people’s hard work down. We are not here to preach but only present a fictitious entertaining story."

It is only a couple of days back that TV anchor and actor Karan Wahi had slammed 'Pehredaar Piya Ki' for its content, calling it stupid and said producers should not churn out anything for TRPs.
