One of the longest running shows on Indian television, Sasural Simar Ka will finally bid adieu to its viewers. Media reports suggest that the makers have decided to wrap up the show by next month. The news about the show going off air was floating for quite some time but it appears the show will at last go off air.
The show which was launched on April 25, 2011 on Colors channel has enjoyed a successful run of six long years. It started off as a normal kitchen politics drama featuring two sisters but turned into a supernatural fantasy show with the entry of ghosts and snake woman. The show enjoyed good TRPs for quite a long time but as of late the numbers have dipped.
The Colors’ popular show caught the attention of the people when the lead protagonist Simar turned into a makhi (fly). The show was mocked for its unusual storyline and become a butt of jokes on Twitter.
The original ‘Simar’ Dipika Kakkar left the show early this year, after playing the titular role for more than five years. The makers got on board Keerti Gaekwad Kelkar to play the new Simar. Keerti, however refuted the rumours and said she has no idea about the show breathing its last.
The Rashmi Sharma show has seen the exit of many actors other than Dipika over the years. First it was the original ‘Prem’ Shoaib Ibrahim who left the show due to lack of screen space. Last year two key actors of the show Avika Gor and Manish Raisinghan too left the show. Dheeraj Dhoopar who replaced Shoaib as Prem in 2013 quit the show in March in search of better opportunities.
Indian television will also witness the exit of ‘Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi’. The Sony show will air its last episode on August 25, 2017. It stars Shaheer Sheikh and Erica Fernandes in the lead roles.
