Due to the problems faced by the show, the channel Sony Entertainment Television has decided to take it off air. No episode was telecasted on Monday evening and this came as a major shock to the cast.

Sony pulls the plug on 'Pehredaar Piya Ki', show goes off air leaving cast and crew shocked

Pehredaar Piya Ki has been making buzz ever since the first promo came out. The show has faced severe backlash from the fans for its storyline where a 9-year-old boy marries a 18-year-old girl. Tejaswi Prakash Wayangankar and  Affan Khan play the lead characters of Diya and Ratan respectively on the show telecasted on Sony.

The daily soap produced by Shashi and Sumeet Mittal has faced several problems owing to its controversial storyline. Due to the problems faced by the show, the channel Sony Entertainment Television has decided to take it off air. No episode was telecasted on Monday evening and this came as a major shock to the cast.

The show makers were planning for a time leap and this came as a bolt from the blue.

The show has received a lot of flak on social media for its regressive content. Viewers even filed a petition to the Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani, requesting her to ban the show.

 Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC) had instructed Sony to change the time slot which was followed by the channel. Sony was also directed to run a scroll which said the show is not promoting child marriage.
