‘Champaklal’ Issues Of Apology For Controversial Dialogue (Photo Credit: Twitter)
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah recently came into headlines when the team of the popular comedy show received an open threat from Raj Thackeray’s political party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). This all started when in a recent episode Amit Bhatt aka Champaklal Gada called ‘Hindi’ as the most common language in Mumbai.
MNS decided to call out the makers of the show and also demeaned them by calling ‘Gujarati insects’. Ameya Khopkar, the president of the cinema wing, had demanded an apology from the makers of ‘Taarak Mehta..’.
Maker of the show, Asit Kumar Modi posted a clarification on this row and wrote, ‘’Mumbai is in Maharashtra, and Marathi is the official language of Maharashtra. I'm an Indian, I'm a Maharashtrian and also a Gujarati. I respect all the Indian languages’’.

Even, a small segment was also aired where Shailesh Lodha aka Taarak Mehta can be seen clearing the air and apologising for hurting any sentiments. Here’s is the video:
The only thing we believe in spreading is love and happiness! We apologize if we have hurted any sentiments through our show. We believe in unity in diversity & respect for each and every religion and its mother tongue. Amit Bhatt also issued an apology letter to the party stating that he was just following the script and ensured that the team will make sure that such mistake doesn’t repeat in the future.
