Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari has been roped in for Sanjay Dutt’s upcoming movie ‘Bhoomi’. She will be seen playing the titular role Bhoomi, who will be Sanjay’s daughter in the movie.
Apparently, ever since Dutt has announced ‘Bhoomi’ as his comeback, several names were doing the rounds for the titular role including Shraddha Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon, Sayyesha Saigal etc.
However, it was Aditi which bagged the role.
Confirming the news director Omung Kumar stated, “We shortlisted Aditi because she’s in a good space right now. I love the way she emotes. This, unlike her other projects, will be her film. She’s a relatively untapped actress. The father-daughter relationship is an important aspect of the narrative in this revenge drama. Aditi’s face perfectly blends softness with a lot of strength. Besides, I like to team up people, who seem unlikely to be cast together, in my movies.”

Omung also spoke about Aditi and Sanjay’s chemistry and said, “Aditi’s role goes hand-in-hand with Dutt’s track in the film. His journey is physically demanding, while her role will display an array of emotions. So, it’s important that they get along well. They are in fact being trained by a diction expert for the dialect common in Agra.”
Interestingly, this is the first time Aditi will be sharing the screenspace with Sanjay Dutt. Sanjay was last seen in 2014 release 'PK".
‘Bhoomi’ is expected to hit the floors this month with Maanyata Dutt reportedly giving the mahurat clap. The movie is said to be shot near Taj Mahal in Agra.
‘Bhoomi’ is touted to release on August 4.
