Ajay Devgn, who was last seen in his directorial venture 'Shivaay', is all set to portray a legendary warrior in his upcoming movie.

Titled as 'Tanaji', Ajay will get into the shoes of the unsung Marathi warrior Subedar Taanaji Malusare on the big screen. The actor recently took it to micro-blogging site Twitter to share the first look of his upcoming movie and wrote, "He fought for his people, his soil and his king Chhatrapati Shivaji. The unsung warrior of glorious Indian history, Subedar Taanaji Malusare."

The first look poster of Ajay Devgn's period drama looks impressive as the actor is seen defending himslef fiercely in the battlefield.


Interestingly, there has been a buzz that Devgn was keen to make a period movie and it was reported that it is going to be on 'Battle of Saragarhi'.

However, the 'Golmaal' actor has put all the speculations to rest after he announced 'Tanaji'.

Talking about the unsung Marathi warrior, Subedar Taanaji Malusare wss a man who fought alongside Chatrapati Shivaji. He was the military leader in the army of Shivaji, and also one of his closest friends who was from Malusare clan.

Helmed by Om Raut, 'Tanaji' is slated to release next year.
