Did you know? ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, a film which is based on a true incident and supports in creating awareness on improving sanitation condition in India, was not offered to Akshay Kumar firstly. Infact, it was denied and rejected by many actors for over four years.
The Airlift star made such revelation days before the release of the flick. He said, "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha" was offered to many other heroes, who rejected the movie. The writers brought the subject to me. Interestingly, this script was doing the rounds in the industry for over four years. It went to a lot of heroes, a lot of people but nobody picked it up’’.
The movie was earlier titled as ‘Sandaas: Ek Prem Katha’ but was later changed. The actor told the reporters that the film is based on a true incident and is basically a love story.
After the release of its first trailer, PM Narendra Modi praised it for its commendable effort to promote cleanliness. On asking to hold a special screening for the Prime Minister, the ‘Baby’ star said it would his honour to organise it.
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh and produced by Neeraj Pandey and Akshay Kumar, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ is slated to release on August 11.
