Alia Bhatt-Ranbir Kapoor’s First, Brahmastra Gets Release Date; Pushed To December 2020

Dharma Productions' long-awaited Brahmastra that will come as a trilogy series has received a new release date. After constant re-scheduling of premiere dates, Ayan Mukerji's directorial will now release on 4 December, confirms Amitabh Bachchan.

Previously, the film that was scheduled to clash with Salman Khan’s Dabangg 3 in 2019 Christmas was pushed to summer 2020, because, Mukerji in a satement explained that in order to deliver his vision, his VFX team would need more time, leading to a delay in the film's release.

The Wake Up Sid director further said, “ I believe the extra time going into making the movie is essential to achieve the dream of Brahmastra, and I really hope that we make up for the delay by giving our movie-loving country something they can really love and feel proud of’

Touted as a fantasy adventure franchise, Brahmastra stars Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna in pivotal roles. Shah Rukh Khan too will break his year long sabbatical with a special appearance in the film.

Amitabh Bachchan too shared the release date and said that the director is not allowed to change the date anymore. 

The movie will see Ranbir playing Shiva, a DJ unaware of his special powers, and Alia will essay a character named Isha.  Ranbir’s Shiva will unleash fire from his palms. The actor has undergone rigorous training in various forms of martial arts for the role.

Alia had previously said Brahmastra will "take cinema to another level." The film has some high octane action sequences. Ranbir trained in traditional Indian martial arts, including Kalaripayattu and Varma Kalai, before the film went on floors in 2017.

On 4 March, the makers and the cast of the film gave its fans a glimpse of the film’s logo in the sky at the concluding day of Kumbh Mela. This is the first time ever where the makers of a film have involved drones and announced the logo on such a huge scale on the auspicious day of Mahashivratri.

Brahmastra has been extensively shot in Bulgaria, New York, and Mumbai,

The Dharma Productions backed magnum opus will hit cinemas in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
