Ayushmann Khurrana’s Badhaai Ho was a sleeper hit. The movie went on to clinch several awards starting from Filmfare awards to even National Film Awards in the ‘Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment’ and ‘Best Supporting Actress’ categories. Now Junglee Pictures is coming up with its sequel and this time they have tweaked the title from ‘Badhaai Ho’ to Badhaai Do’.
Directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni who wrote films like Hasee to Phasee and helmed Hunterrr, Badhaai Do will no longer retain Ayushmann Khurrana in its lead role. A fresh pairing of Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar will take charge and like its predecessor, Badhaai Do will revolve around an unlikely relationship challenging societal pre conceived norms and promises of double the fun.
Rajkummar Rao who ahs already portrayed the character of a cop in films like 5 Weddings, talaash, Shaitaan will do it again but with a twist. Interestingly, this time Rao will be seen as the sole male police offer at a Mahile thana or Women’s Police Station. ““I have played a cop before but never with this perspective. I look for layered characters and this one is a perfect match. My character is surrounded by strong women at home and at work and that adds immense depth to his personality. Harshavardhan and Bhumi are both dear friends and extremely talented artists. Junglee Pictures’ Bareilly Ki Barfi was a fabulous experience for me. So, Badhaai Do is a reunion in many ways." The actor said to Mumbai Mirror confirming the news of his role.
