Your favourite couple Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan are making a comeback on the big screen with their upcoming flick The Legend of Maula Jatt. Pakistani film-lovers were in for a treat on Friday evening as the trailer of much-awaited Punjabi film – The Legend of Maula Jatt – was released.
Contrary to popular belief, this is not a remake of the 1979 cult classic Maula Jatt.
The two-minute clip kicks off with the folklore of Maula Jatt executed by Fawad Khan and his gandasa. It then introduces Noori Nath, Maula Jatt’s rival character played brilliantly by Hamza Ali Abbasi.
Mahira Khan looks drop-dead gorgeous with gypsy-like long hair with multiple braids, she plays Maula’s love interest in the film, Mukkho Jatti.Â
Fawad Khan impresses as the rough and tough masculine alpha male of the Jatt cadre giving a sneak peek of what an action-packed romance thriller it will turn out to be.
The film’s trailer on Facebook and YouTube has collectively garnered over one million views in less than a day with social media users sharing their excitement for the 2019 release.

In case you don’t remember, the calls for banning Pakistani talent from working in the Indian film industry first surfaced in 2016 when cross-border India-Pakistan tension spilled over into the entertainment world to protest against the Uri attacks. With some Indian political outfits imposing a ban on Pakistanis and a few Pakistani theatres pulling down Indian movies from their big screens, Pakistani actors are not allowed to work in Indian films, and this decision was supported by Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association.
