Gold trailer: A dream that united the nation

After the success of his recent film Padman, Akshay Kumar is back with yet another patriotic movie Gold. In the slightly over two-minute-long trailer of Gold, Akshay is hitting the patriotic chord as the coach of a pre-independence Indian hockey team, who dreams to win an Olympic gold.

Apart from Akshay, the trailer also features Mouni Roy, Vineet Kumar Singh, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor and Sunny Kaushal.

The trailer of the film opens with a dialogue: “Gold, British India” and then shows Akshay Kumar revealing his dream to avenge the British by defeating them in Olympics and winning the gold medal.

Mouni Roy, who is playing Akshay’s wife in the movie, appears for a few seconds in the trailer. The trailer then went on to introduce Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh and Sunny Kaushal. All are narrating the role of hockey players with an intense passion for the game.

Akshay plays the role of Tapam Das, a Bengali coach in Gold, which is directed by Reema Kagti. The film will hit the theaters on coming Independence Day, August 15, which also marks the 70 years of India’s first gold medal at the 1948 Olympics post-independence.
