First look poster of Shabaash Mithu, biopic of former captain of the Indian women's cricket team, Mithali Raj starring Taapsee Pannu is out and just like the latter's game on-field, Taapsee in her blue jersey seems to draw fire on the cinematic stage.
"I have always been asked who's your favourite male cricketer but you should ask them who their favourite female cricketer is. "The statement that made every cricket lover pause and introspect that do they love the game or the gender playing it. @M_Raj03 you are a 'Game Changer'," Taapsee wrote alongside the film's poster.

The biographical drama film will be directed by Rahul Dholakia, best known for making movies such as "Raees", "Lamhaa" and "Parzania".
The announcement for the biopic was done on Mithali Raj’s birthday in December last year. Taapsee Panny shared a number of pictures of herself with the skipper in which Mithali is seen cutting a cake. Along with the pictures, Taapsee wrote, "Happy Happy Birthday Captain @mithaliraj! You have made all of us proud in more than many ways and it’s truly an honour to be chosen to showcase your journey on screen. On this Birthday of yours I don’t know what gift I can give you but this promise that I shall give it all I have to make sure you will be proud of what you see of yourself on screen with #ShabaashMithu. PS- I am all prepared to learn THE cover drive’ #HappyBirthdayCaptain (sic)."

This is Taapsee second sports drama after Soorma also starring Daljit Dosanjh. In 2020, she will also be seen in Anubhav Sinha's "Thappad" and another sports drama based on an athelete's life, titled Rashmi Rocket. Mithali said with the film, she will get a bigger platform to reach young women who are dreaming to make it big. "I have always stood for and voiced my opinion for equal opportunity for women not just in cricket but across all fields. I want to thank Ajit Andhare and Viacom18 Studios for not just bringing alive my story on screen but also for giving me a bigger platform to be able to reach out to young women who dare to dream," she added.
There were also reports of Taapsee featuring in double role in a film, backed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, but the actor didn't comment on the same.
