The makers of the biographical drama film have unveiled the teaser of Manto on Saturday and we couldn’t thank them enough. The one minute 27 seconds long video takes us to the post-independence period of India and gives us a glimpse of Saadat Hasan Manto’s character.
Nawazuddin, who plays the role of the celebrated playwright, has done complete justice to the role. Manto’s writings have influenced various writers and students and continue to remain relevant even today.
The Gangs of Wasseypur actor has given his blood and sweat for the role and it is already visible in the teaser.
The Nandita Das directorial, which was selected for Cannes Film Festival, has several crispy dialogues which catch your attention.
The film will primarily focus on the fearless writer’s year in Mumbai, a city which he loved dearly and mourned after separating from it.
The Badlapur actor, while talking to PTI said that he faced some tough challenges while playing the role in Manto.
"The challenge for me was to be true to myself. Manto used to write what he used to see happening in the society. There is hypocrisy in society but he was not scared. He was fearless while writing. But, he did face problems while speaking the truth’’, Nawazuddin told PTI.
Manto, which also stars Paresh Rawal, Rasika Dugal, Rishi Kapoor and Tahir Raj Bhasin, is expected to release this year.
