Post the commendable success of his last release Padmaavat, Shahid Kapoor has been on the role. The actor has been roped in for another mega project, Hindi remake of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's debut directorial Arjun Reddy.
The Telugu movie featured Vijay Deverakonda in the lead and was highly appreciated by the audience. And now Vanga will be remaking the movie in Hindi.
While there have been reports that Arjun Kapoor was in talks for the project, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has confirmed of taking Shahid on board and believes that he is a perfect choice for the role.
"As an actor, he has no inhibitions. Arjun Reddy is a character with a lot of rage and I think Shahid can convincingly bring it alive on screen. I was clear from the beginning that I wanted to work with him," Sandeep told Firstpost.
He further revealed that the movie will hit the floors in July his year.
“We’re planning to commence shooting from July. Telugu audiences loved the core emotion of Arjun Reddy and we don’t want to tamper with it. The newness and shock value that worked in favour of the original will be retained. When I made Arjun Reddy, I wasn’t sure where to draw the line in terms of representation of certain things. I don’t think I’d have to restrict myself when it comes to the Hindi version. I believe I’ll have more freedom in Bollywood. We can make it even more hard-hitting. We’re planning to shoot the college portion in Delhi. I’ll be here for the next few days and explore a few places. We’re yet to zero in on other locations,” Sandeep added.
Indeed, it will be interesting to see Shahid in another hard-hitting role after Padmaavat.
Currently, the actor is busy shooting for Shree Narayan Singh's Batti Gul Meter Chalu opposite Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam. The movie expected to release in August this year.
