Irrfan Khan starrer Hindi Medium emerged as one of the sleeper hits of last year. The comedy-drama film revolved around a Delhi couple who wanted to send their daughter to one of the best English medium schools.
The movie not only enjoyed critical success but did wonders at the box office. The Saket Chaudhary directorial won the best film award at the Filmfare awards 2018.
Irrfan Khan was also lauded with the best actor award at the coveted award ceremony held in Mumbai in January. Fans were eagerly waiting for the second instalment of the flick and it seems their wish has finally come true.
The sequel to Hindi Medium will once again see Irrfan Khan in the lead role. However, this time around, Saket Chaudhary won’t direct the much-awaited film.
Homi Adajania who earned critical acclaim for ‘Being Cryus’ will step in the shoes of Chaudhary. The news of Adajania coming on board was announced by the makers Maddock film on Monday.
"I ambled into Dinoo’s (Dinesh Vijan) room and he was sitting down to a narration. I had enjoyed the first one (Hindi Medium) and the way these writers have taken the narrative forward is very clever. So yeah, I pretty much gatecrashed the narration and it was so engaging and hilarious that I told him I'd be happy to direct it if he had no director attached to the project. It's been a while since I've found any material so amusing yet emotional," Homi Adajania said in a statement.
Interestingly, Homi and Dinesh Vijan have collaborated for the hit movie Cocktail which featured Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan and Dianty Penty in lead roles.
Hindi Medium also featured Saba Qamar and Deepak Dobriyal. The makers of the film are yet to confirm if the Pakistani beauty will be part of the sequel or not.
