Ever since Yash Raj films have announced the fourth instalment of the famous Dhoom franchise, a lot has been said and reported about the casting. It was first reported that Salman Khan would be essaying the negative role in Dhoom 4. Then later there were reports suggesting that Ranveer Singh has been approached to play the lead. But now, according to latest reports, Akshay Kumar has been finalised for the role in Dhoom 4.
Earlier, John Abraham, Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan played the antagonists in the first three films in the Dhoom franchise, respectively. An industry source has confirmed to Bollywood analyst Atul Mohan that Akshay Kumar has been finalised to play the next 'bad man' in Dhoom 4. He took to Twitter and wrote, "A highly placed source has revealed that #AkshayKumar has been confirmed for #Dhoom4. Let's wait for official announcement soon."

Earlier too, Akshay's name has surfaced as the main lead in Dhoom 4. But Yash Raj Films, in a statement, rubbished the reports and said that no such developments have taken place. The statement read, "The article Dhoom to get Khiladi's touch? printed in today's Mid-day is absolutely incorrect and baseless. Dhoom is an extremely important franchise for us but currently, we do not have an idea or script for Dhoom 4. We are always available to clarify any and all queries and strongly urge and request you to kindly double-check stories with us well in advance for us to be able to provide you with all accurate facts."
Meanwhile, Akshay recently wrapped up the shoot of his next film, Sooryavanshi. The film also stars Katrina Kaif and Jackie Shroff in lead roles. Akshay has worked with Katrina earlier in movies like Tees Mar Khan, Singh is King, Namste London. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film is set to hit the big screens on March 27th.
