All fans who were eagerly looking for the release of Padmavati will have to wait for more. The film's release date has been postponed.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati has been embroiled in different controversies and thus has faced a lot of up and downs.

From Bhansali being attacked by religious groups to the set in Kolhapur catching fire, the upcoming movie has seen major setbacks.

The workers strike added to the woes of the film makers. Despite this, the director is focusing all his energies on the ambitious project.

All these incidents have delayed the filming of Padmavati.

The film was all set to release in November this year. However, recent media reports suggest that the film won't be able to meet the release date.

Grapevines are now reporting that the movie's release date has been pushed to April 2018. There are reports which say post-production of the movie will take some more months.

There are some crucial scenes which need to be shot with the principal cast including Sanjay Dutt, who plays Alauddin Khilji's father in the movie.

Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh play the lead roles in the historical movie produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.

Deepika will play the titular role while Shahid will be seen as her husband Raja Rawal Ratan Singh. Ranveer will don the hat of the antagonist  Allauddin Khilji.
