Sidharth Malhotra turns 35 today and on the occasion of his birthday, Karan Johar, producer of his upcoming movie has shared first look as an Indian Army officer from Shershaah. Sidharth look vigilante and tough, determined towards his mission as an Indian armyman. While one poster shows Sidharth, in the middle of action along with other soldiers, with a backdrop of war and explosion another gives a closer look at the actor as he seems to be lost in deep thought.

Shershaah is a biopic of Kargil hero Captain Vikram Batra. The captain more popularly known by his code name Shershaah’ made for the secret mission was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra — India’s highest military award at an early age for his valour and actions in 1999 Kargil War.

Sharing two posters of the film, Karan wrote on Twitter, “We bow our heads in respect & pay an ode to the brave journey of the Kargil War hero through our film. Presenting @SidMalhotra in the UNTOLD TRUE STORY of Captain Vikram Batra (PVC) - #Shershaah. Releasing 3rd July, 2020. @Advani_Kiara @vishnu_dir @apoorvamehta18.”

Sidharth on his passion project Shershaah

Sidharth had earlier said that if he had the means then the film, which he calls his passion project, would have been produced by him. Asked about producing films, Sidharth told IANS: “If it is a story which will become a passion project then (he will produce the film), not from a commercial aspect... a story which I feel has to be made and should be made. It will be great to create content and tell stories which I believe in.”

Kiara Advani will star opposite Sidharth in the movie. The actors have been linked up and were recently seen coming back from vacation in an undisclosed location.  Sidharth will play a double role, where he will portray both Vikram Batra and his twin, Vishal Batra.

On the occasion of 72nd Army Day, Sidharth wrote, "A big salute to all our soldiers for their courage, valour and boundless determination! After interacting with them closely last year I’ve realised that it’s truly the most selfless profession. We can’t thank them enough for everything they do for our countryJai Hind! #ArmyDay."

Bollywood is riding high in its patriotic wave and movies made on the subject of India’s military or other combat endeavours is making much noise at money at the box office, After Uri: The Surgical Strike got the nerves of the countrymen pulsating, movies like Bhuj: The Pride Of India, Gunjan Saxena, biopic of Abhinanndan Barthman were announced.

Captain Vikram Batra of 13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles had fought in the Kargil War in June 1999 in the Dras sub sector and was instrumental in the capture of Point 5140 on the Tololing Ridge leading to Tiger Hill.

He laid down his life during the subsequent operation of Point 4875, bravely rushing forward to rescue Lieutenant Naveen, a subaltern under Batra. On 15 August, 1999, his father received Vikram's Param Vir Chakra Award posthumously.
