Taapsee Pannu’s first release of the year, Thappad’s will open at theatres on February 28 and the actress recently shared the first look poster of the film announcing that the movie trailer comes tomorrow.The film reunites Taapsee with her Mulk director Anubhav Sinha whose last outing was Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Article 15. The film is the first project as a part of the multi-film deal between producer Bhushan Kumar and Sinha. It aims to explore the basis of a man-woman relationship and gender equality, through an engaging story of a husband and wife.
Taapsee took to her social media poster to share the poster. “Kya yeh bas itni si baat hai? Kya pyaar mein ye bhi jayaz hai? Yeh #Thappad Ki pehli Jhalak hai!” she wrote as she explained the subject of the movie. The poster with Taapsee on it is a reflection of the reverberation, effect felt on a sudden slap on face.
Tappse recently giving a sneak-peek of the subject said, that Thappad is Pink in the present times. “ To put it in perspective, looking at what we aim to convey with our film, I can say Thappad is this year's Pink," Taapsee said.
Taapsee known for playing liberated, radical characters in films such as Pink, Mulk, Saand ki Aankh said the upcoming film is an ode to India women and explores gender dynamics in relationships.
"Thappad' is about those said-unsaid things women are supposed to do. For years we have been living like that. It raises questions like ‘why women need to be a certain way?' I'm playing this average Indian woman, who is also taught to be a certain way. The biggest challenge for me and Anubhav sir was how to rip that fiery image off me because audiences are used to seeing me doing something radical,’’ the actor had earlier said during a film festival.
