Disney's streaming portal Disney+ has finally come to India in collaboration with Hotstar to brings the best content from the two OTT platforms to the Indian users. The digital red carpet primere happened on April 02 with two animated favourites Lion King and Mandalorin. Hotstar subscribers in India can now watch Disney+ content along with those origonally available in Hotstar.'
Several Bollywood actors such as Varun Dhawan, Hrithik Roshan, Kriti Sanon, Katrina Kaif announced about the Hotstar and Disney+ collaboration and digital red carpet. Some of them even shared pictures of watching Lion King from home.
“Today, as we unveil Disney+ Hotstar, we take yet another momentous step in staying committed to our promise of delivering high-quality impactful stories for India that have not only entertained but also made a difference in people’s lives, a promise that is even more meaningful in challenging times such as this. We hope the power of Disney’s storytelling, delivered through Hotstar’s technology, will help our viewers find moments of comfort, happiness and inspiration during these difficult times,” Uday Shankar - President, The Walt Disney Company APAC and Chairman, Star & Disney India, said in a statement.
Indian Hotstar users can now avail three kinds pf subscription plans, Disney+ Hotstar VIP, Disney+ Hotstar Premium and the regular ad-supported basic tier.
-- Hotstar VIP was earlier available for Rs 365 a year. Existing users can ped their plan to Rs 399 a year to get Disney+ Hotstar VIP content. In this tier, subscribers will get Hotstar VIP content and movies and shows from Marvel Cinematic Universe, and popular Disney movies like The Lion King and Frozen II.
-- Hotstar Premium that was available at Rs 999 a year will now cost Rs1499 for added Disney+ content that evevrything for MCU movies, latest American shows supported by HBO, Fox and Showtime and also 29 exclusive Disney+ content.
-- If you are an existing customer of Hotstar you plan will be automatically upgraded considering your earlier plan. Once your subscription is renewed the additional amount will be charged. All new subscribers will have to pay the new rates.

-- There will be a seperate Disney+ section that will help users navigate content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic easily.
