A post is going viral on social media claiming that a man from the lower caste was beaten to death for watching garba dance in Gujarat. So much so that Bollywood actor Swara Bhasker also shared a news report carrying the same piece of information as mentioned in the viral post.
To find out the truth, News Nation reverse searched the image of the man on Google and found that the incident is true but it happened on October 1, 2017, on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti.
The actor’s tweet was retweeted more than 1,500 times and liked by over 3,700 users.
Bhasker, however, deleted the post, realising her mistake. In a fresh tweet, she clarified that she hadn't seen the date while reading and sharing the article.
Pls note : this is a news article (ironically) from 2nd October 2017.. I hadn’t seen the date when I read the article. My bad! Still pretty shitty though ! Are the perpetrators behind bars???

According to reports, on October 1, 2017, a 21-year-old man-- Jayesh Solanki – from the lower caste was allegedly beaten to death by a group of men from the upper caste community for attending a garba event in Anand district of Gujarat.
According to the police, the accused said the scheduled caste don't have any right to watch garba. Jayesh’s cousin was also allegedly beaten up. A report by The Indian Express said all the eight accused were arrested in the incident.
After a thorough research, News Nation concludes that the incident took place two years back and there no other person called Jayesh Solanki, who was assaulted for a similar reason.
