Fact Check: Old Video From Pakistan Shared As Hindu Couple Being Thrashed By Police

A video clip showing an elderly couple being thrashed and jostled into a van by Pakistan police officials is making the round on social media. The video clip is shared with a claim that Pakistani police was beating the Hindu couple while human rights organisations remained tight-lipped when it comes to the minorities in the Islamic country.

The video was shared on Facebook by a user CA Kiran Jayaram Acharya, who also wrote a text in Kannada. The translation of the text from Kannda to English: "In Pakistan police brutally beat up elderly Hindu couples, minorities in Pakistan can be treated like this: Where is the Human Rights organisation? What was it like being in India? #Shameful_function"

At the time of article this article, the video has already been shared by 486 times and has been over 14,000 times. However, when fact checked, it was found out that the video was true but the couple was not from the Hindu community as claimed by the user. This incident was also reported in the Pakistan media on November 22, 2017. A report published in the Geo TV had stated that the elderly couple was beaten up by Multan police and they were identified as Muhammad Idrees and Naseem Bibi.
