Fact Check: Were Tejas Express Passengers Admitted To ICU After Eating IRCTC Food?

The post soon went viral and several people uploaded the same photo on their Facebook account. ( Photo Credit : Social Media )

Tejas Express, India’s first private train, has been in the news even before it was flagged off. Soon after the train was launched, a social media post went viral which claimed that bad food was served in the semi-bullet train because of which at least 24 people were hospitalised and some were even admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) as well.

The post, which has a collage of two photos, shows food that is served in trains along with a pic of the Tejas train.

"Eating food in Tejas leads to death" can be seen written on the top of the post and below it’s written "24 passengers are facing bad health after eating food in Tejas. Three passengers fighting for life in ICU."

But the fact is that the Railways inquiry had found that most of the passengers who were hospitalised ate their own cooked meals and there was nothing wrong with the food served on the Tejas train.

“A preliminary probe found nothing wrong in the food provided by the catering service even as a lab report was expected by Tuesday evening,” Mahendra Pratap Mall, who heads the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corp (IRCTC), was quoted as saying by news agency IANS.

So it clear that the news being shared on social media is fake.
