A 27-year-old engineer identified as Saurabh Ghosh died on Saturday late night after he jumped off a train in an attempt to catch a phone snatcher at Uluberia railway station, West Bengal. The tragic incident took place while he was on his way home to Jamshedpur from Kolkata. 

According to the eye-witnesses, Saurabh Ghosh jumped off running train (Sambalpur Express) soon after a thief snatched his iPhone. The incident happened when the victim was talking on the phone inside the train compartment at Uluberia Railway Station and a thief snatched his phone and jumped off the train. 

Ghosh immediately decided to chase the thief and jumped off the compartment. As he jumped out of the train, Ghosh fell on the ground and banged his head against the stones. The victim was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. 

The victim, a resident of Jamshedpur, had bought his iPhone some 15 days back. He was working at a factory in Bauria in Howrah. Ghosh’s last rites were performed on Sunday afternoon in Howrah after his family reached the city. In the meantime, Police said that they were trying to trace iphone.

Back in July this year, a 52-year-man was run over by a Mumbai local when he tried to chase a phone snatcher at Charni Road Station. The victim was identified as Shakil Sheikh, a resident of Goregaon.
