10 Dead, 15 Injured As Two-Storey Building Collapses Following Cylinder Blast In Uttar Pradesh's Mau

At least ten people were killed and several injured after a two-storey building collapsed following a cylinder blast at a home in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district on Monday. According to reports, several people are still feared trapped inside the debris of the building. "At least 10 feared dead in blast at a house in UP's Mau district," Additional Chief Secretary Awanish Awasthi was quoted as saying by PTI. Jammu And Kashmir: 70 Days Later, Postpaid Mobile Services To Be Restored From Today

After over two months of communication blockade in Jammu and Kashmir, the postpaid mobile services are set to resume from Monday afternoon. The Valley has nearly 66 lakh mobile subscribers out of which nearly 40 lakh subscribers have post-paid facilities. Tensions are high in Kashmir after New Delhi on August 5 announced abrogation of provisions of Article 370 and decided to bifurcate the state into Union territories - Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh - hours after Kashmir was placed under a total clampdown. Highest In Six years, Nearly 4,500 Undergraduates Avail PM's Scholarship Scheme For J-K Students

Nearly 4,500 have enrolled themselves to pursue undergraduate studies under the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS). Out of the total, 2,400 students are from the Jammu region, 1,474 from Kashmir and the rest from Ladakh. In last six years, this year saw the highest number of admissions as 2,400 students were admitted under the scheme in 2018 and nearly 3,000 in 2017. Maharashtra has the highest number of enrolled students, followed by Delhi, Punjab, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. Read more…

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly is also set to become the new BCCI's new President, reported news agency PTI. In a dramatic turn of events, Ganguly emerged as consensus candidate after former cricketer Brijesh Patel appeared to have grabbed the post. Typhoon Hagibis: Navy Ships Provide Assistance To Japan As Rescue Operations Continue

Two ships of Indian Navy - INS Sahyadri and INS Kiltan – have been pressed into service to provide assistance to Japan which has been smashed by typhoon Hagibis. Around 7.3 million people were given non-compulsory evacuation orders as floods and landslides hit several parts of the country after the typhoon made landfall south of Tokyo on Saturday.
