The officials of Telangana Prohibition and Excise Department have sent notices to 15 Tollywood stars including Ravi Teja, Puri Jagannath and others on suspicions of their involvement in a drug scandal, said an article published in the Times of India.
The Special Investigation Team of the Enforcement Wing of the Prohibition and Excise Department have summoned all these personalities of Telugu film industry to appear before it between July 19 and 27.
These people were summoned after their names were found in the mobile phone of an accused who was arrested recently.
The 15 names include Ravi Teja, Puri Jagannath, Subramraju, singer Geeta Madhuri's husband Nandu, Thanish, Navdeep, Charmi, Mumaith Khan among others, reported the Times of India in its article.
A news article also claimed that few of these celebrities requested the officials to allow their lawyers to be present instead of them but the request was denied by the department.
The development comes days after film producer Allu Aravind’s recent statement about 10 young stars in the film industry being involved in the drugs. He even alleged the drug habit in the Tollywood came from Mumbai industry.
