A court in Hyderabad on Thursday granted bail to Swami Aseemanand, the controversial former member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), in the 2007 Mecca Masjid blast case.
At least nine persons were killed when an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated inside Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad on May 18, 2007.
Initially, it was suspected that terror outfits such as LeT was involved in the blast.
NIA officials had in May 2011 chargesheeted Swami Aseemanand, who retracted his statement after confessing to having the role of right-wing activists, retracted his statement.
Aseemanand is also a co-accused in the Malegaon and Samjhauta Express blast cases.

Earlier this month, Swami Aseemanand and six others were acquitted in the Ajmer dargah blast case by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) special court, while three persons were convicted.
