2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts

The Gujarat ATS on Monday arrested Nasir Rangrej, an accused in the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts case. Rangrej, who was absconding, has been arrested from Karnataka.

Police had in April arrested Alamzeb Afridi, who is an alleged Indian Mujahideen operative and also a key accused in the Ahmedabad serial blasts case.

On January 29, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Afridi, a resident of Juhapura, from Bengaluru in the Church Street blast case.

In July 2008, 18 blasts had rocked Ahmedabad, leaving at least 56 people dead and injuring more than 150.
