Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav’s close associate Kiranmoy Nanda on Monday said that Akhilesh Yadav will be the party’s Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Mulayam Singh Yadav had refused to term Akhilesh as party’s CM face and now Nanda’s statements is seen as an attempt to pacify the SP supremo’s son.

In a letter on Sunday, Ramgopal Yadav had warned Mulayam that he "alone would be responsible" if SP collected fewer than 100 of Uttar Pradesh's 403 seats.

SP state chief and Akhilesh’s uncle Shivpal Yadav had said on Sunday that he would pitch his nephew's name for CM post if the party wins the 2017 Assembly elections.
