A 22-year-old woman delivered her baby in an autorickshaw a few meters away from the entry-gates of Gandhi Hospital at Musheerabad in Hyderabad on Friday.

The 22-year-old pregnant lady could not deliver the baby under the supervision of doctors as traffic slog and bumpy rides delayed her journey to hospital after getting delivery pains.

Gandhi Hospital officials told the media that the pregnant woman was about to be shifted to the hospital to start her delivery process but she delivered her baby near the hospital gate.

The 22-year-old was being accompanied by her mother who helped her in the delivery.

The hospital later after the delivery admitted the mother and baby in the hospital.

Times of India quoting Dr Shravan Kumar, hospital superintendent wrote, “Although, her delivery was not under us as she had already delivered at the hospital gate, we took her inside the hospital later and we are taking care of the baby.”

The doctor added that the mother told hospital staff that she did not start immediately for the hospital after getting labour pains.

“Looks like she could not understand that it was labour pain," said Dr Shravan Kumar, the hospital superintendent.
