India was taken aback on November 8 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his televised note to the nation announced to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes. The decision was taken to check the flow of black money in the market. A day after demonetisation was announced, banks and ATMs were shut. Initially, Twitter was flooded with jokes and funny reactions from people. But soon on November 10 as people queued outside banks and ATMs to get notes exchanged. Frustration and anger soon replaced the praises against ‘the drive to do away with blackmoney.’
Here is how Twitterati reacted:
Demonitization of 500 and 1000 rupee notes is master stroke by Central Government to curb black economy and fake currency. Kudos!

Demonetization, apart from attacking black money, is a significant move against counterfeiting&terror financing. It deserves citizen support.

The real problem with #Demonetisation may be that corrupt bankers and officials are the key players helping launder money
