Five Haryana police personnel who were posted in Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s security and charged with sedition were dismissed from service on Thursday, said police officials.
Charges of sedition and attempt to murder were slapped against them for trying to free Gurmeet Singh after the Panchkula CBI court on August 25 convicted him in two different rape cases.
Apart from the policemen, two other people were also booked on similar charges. They were produced before a court on Wednesday which sent them to seven days police remand.
As much as 36 people died in the violence by Dera supporters after a CBI court convicted Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a 15 year-old-rape case of rape.

The self-styled “godman” was sentenced to 10-10 years of imprisonment in rape cases of two women. Both the sentences will run consecutively. Apart from 20 years jail, the Dera chief was also slapped with a fine of Rs. 30 lakh.
