5 more cases of rape confirmed in Bihar’s shelter home (PTI)

Fresh medical reports reveal that 34 girls have been raped in Bihar’s government shelter home. Earlier, the medical reports confirmed that 29 of the 42 inmates of the shelter in Muzaffarpur district were raped for months.

Out of 11 accused ten have been arrested. After opposition pressure, Bihar government has handed over the investigation to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). A Charge sheet has been filed against the ten who were arrested earlier.

The sexual assault came to light after the Tata Institute of Social Sciences submitted their report based on conversations with the victims of the state-run shelter home.

Brajesh Thakur, who ran the NGO has been arrested and his organization has been blacklisted. All the girls have been evacuated to homes in neighbouring districts.

Police have failed to recover the body of a minor allegedly buried in the shelter home.

“Bihar has rakshasraj (demonic rule). Here, Ravan kidnaps Mother Sita. This is balatkar raj (rape culture)j, coward Duryodhan is disrobing Draupadi. In Bihar, the Ravan-Duryodhan pair has made it difficult for sisters and mothers to step out,” tweeted Tejaswi Yadav attacking Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

He also demanded immediate resignation of Nitish Kumar’s two ministers whose names have come up in the investigation.
