About 80 students were taken ill on Thursday after consuming meal served to them during a sports tournament at a middle school in Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh.
The students had gathered for a mid-school level sports tournament. They started vomiting along with loose motions and giddiness soon after consuming the meal and were rushed to Sub-Divisional hospital at Shillai, an official said.
Chief Medical Officer Sirmaur, Dr Sanjay Sharma said the students were out of danger.“A team of doctors has been sent to Shillai and all the children are improving and out of danger,” he said.
The Sub-divisional Magistrate of Shillai, Vivek Shukla said the students were being monitored and most of them were expected to be discharged soon.
“The cause of is not known but it could be due to food poisoning,” a doctor attending to the children said.
