New Delhi:

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Wednesday directed the Chief Secretary to recover Rs 97 crore from Aam Aadmi Party for advertisements projecting Arvind Kejriwal and party which was in violation of the guidelines of Supreme Court.

The action was being taken for using tax-payers’ money on advertisements for his own publicity. The Chief Secretary has been asked to recover the money within 30 days. Anil Baijal has also ordered an inquiry into the matter.

The order was followed after a report from 3-member committee formed by the Information and Broadcasting ministry. The report was against the AAP.

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) had said that a part of government's 526 crore publicity blitz was used to promote the party instead of the government.
