The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday announced that it will contest Gujarat Assembly elections on all the seats. The party will begin its campaign through a roadshow in Ahmedabad on September 17.
AAP leader Gopal Rai said that the party is going to contest Gujarat elections on the all the seats.
Gujarat Assembly has 182 seats in total. At present, BJP has 120 seats whereas Congress has 43 MLAs.
The AAP recently got confidence from the win by huge margin in Bawana bypoll. It is to be noted that AAP got major dent on confidence after its loss in Rajouri Garden bypoll and Delhi MCD elections.
To prepare for the elections, the party has also announced setting up of election committee. AAP has put names of 20 leaders in the committee.
So far, Gujarat has witnessed two-dimensional contest between Bhartiya Janata Party and Congress. But, after AAP announcing to contest polls, it will be three-dimensional contest in the upcoming elections.
The 2017 Gujarat Assembly elections is considered to be important from the perspective of BJP. It has become prestige issue for the BJP. Amidst all this, the inclusion of AAP will make things more difficult for the BJP.
The situation has already become grim for BJP especially after the Patel protest and Una matter. Keeping the increasing dissatisfaction among Patels and Dalits in mind, PM Modi has also increased frequency of his Gujarat tours in last six months.
