Earlier, the actor announced that he will contest the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha Elections as an independent candidate. However, he is yet to decide the constituency from where he would fight. He is the third actor, after Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, who has decided to foray into politics.
Raj is considered to have an anti-BJP stance and has criticised PM Narendra Modi government on many occasions. He became vocal after his friend and senior journalist Gauri Lankesh was murdered.
