New Delhi:

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday moved to the Supreme Court challenging Rajesh and Nupur Talwar acquittal in Aarushi Talwar and domestic help murder case.

The investigating agency told the Apex Court that Talwar couple have been wrongly cleared of charges that they murdered their 13-year-old daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj.

In its appeal against Talwar couple acquittal by the Allahabad High Court last October, the CBI said that the court’s conclusion stated that there was no evidence to prove that the Talwars were guilty was wrong on ‘many counts.’

Rajesh and Nupur Talwar were acquitted by the Allahabad High Court in the sensational Aarushi-Hemraj murder case in October, 2017.

Hemraj’s wife last year in December approached the Supreme Court, challenging the acquittal of the dentist couple in 2008 Aarushi murder case. Then, Hemraj's wife Khumkala Banjade said that the high court has accepted that her husband was killed and the CBI cannot abandon its responsibility to uncover the murder.

The Allahabad High Court had said neither the circumstances nor the evidence were enough to hold them guilty. The Noida couple were sentenced to life by a Ghaziabad CBI court on November 28, 2013 for the double murders that not only transfixed but also shook the nation with its element of filicide.

Rajesh and Nupur's daughter Aarushi, 13, was found dead with her throat slit in her bedroom at Jalwayu Vihar in Uttar Pradesh's Noida. A day later, the body of Hemraj, who was from Nepal, was found on the roof of the house.
