New Delhi:

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the right-wing student organisation, has called for a state-wide bandh for all the educational institutions across Telangana today, June 28, 2019. All the parents and representatives of people's organisations are requested to take part in the strike to make it successful. With this, several schools in Secunderabad and the western corridor of the city declared holiday on Friday.

The day-long bandh comes as a mark of protest against exorbitant fees charged by private and corporate schools in the state. The group also want the government to implement the Right to Education Act and form district fee regulatory committees.

Speaking to the media, an ABVP member said, "The government should constitute a fee regulatory committee for private and corporate schools as well. All schools must display the fee structure on their websites and notice boards to maintain transparency".
