Action plan to check fuel price rise, rupee fall coming soon, says Amit Shah

New Delhi :

BJP president Amit Shah on Saturday said that the central government was “very much concerned” about the skyrocketing fuel prices and fall in the value of Indian rupee against the US dollar and will soon come out with an “action plan”.

“We are also very much concerned over the steep increase in the prices of petrol and diesel and also fall in the value of rupee against dollar. We have understood the anxiety of the people in this regard... We shall soon come out with an action plan,” Shah said at a press conference in Hyderabad.

Shah was on a one-day visit to Telangana to launch the BJP’s election campaign with a massive rally at Mahbubnagar. During the visit, the BJP president will also meet party leaders at Shadnagar to plan the strategy for the assembly polls.

Shah said that the ruling party was equally concerned over the rising petrol and diesel prices and sinking rupee. He said the reason behind the fuel and rupee crisis was not his government’s weak economic policies but the international market fluctuation in crude oil prices.

"At the same time, dollar value is also going up not just compared to rupee, but a host of other currencies of other countries as well. We know the people are agitated and the BJP is also worried over the rising prices,” the BJP Rajya Sabha MP added.

The announcement is seen as a big relief for the people bearing the brunt of high petrol and diesel prices.
