Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Thursday called Uttar Pradesh government’s move to use ‘Ramji’ as the middle name of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar a "cheap popularity" stunt.
“This step is just for raking fake and cheap kind of popularity, while on the contrary Baba Saheb’s followers are being inflicted with atrocities,” Mayawati said.
The Yogi Adityanath Government on Thursday ordered all the documents and records with the name of Bhimrao Ambedkar to be corrected to Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. Asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mayawati asked whether he writes his name as Narendra ‘Damodardas’ Modi
Mayawati said the government has done nothing in edifying Ambedkar’s following and asked whether the prime minister also write his name as Narendra ‘Damodardas’ Modi. Ramaji and Damodardas is the name of the father of Ambedkar and PM Modi, respectively.

Mayawati emphasised on BJP by stating that the saffron party tends to use BR Ambedkar’s name to gain the confidence of the Dalits.
The Opposition Samajwadi Party also accused Yogi-led UP government of misusing the name of the man who drafted the Indian Constitution, just to express that they are pro-Dalit.
“BJP and Yogi Government are afraid of the Samajwadi-Mayawati alliance. BJP always comes up with new issues as soon as they realise their failure,” said Samajwadi Party leader Sunil Sajan.
Mayawati-led BSP’s ideology has always been circled by the teachings of the iconic leader and he continues to remain a tug of war for the political parties.
