After 40 years of retirement, ex-airman donates entire life savings to Ministry of Defence

‘Once a soldier, always a soldier’ taking this notion forward, 74-year old retired airman CBR Prasad donated his entire savings to the Ministry of Defence. On Monday, Prasad met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and handed over the donation cheque to him.

The ex-airman after his 9-year stint at the Indian Air Force, started poultry farming. The venture that lasted for thirty years helped prasad in his post IAF days and provided stable income to his family.

Prasad who also appeared to have been a sports enthusiast said that he dreamt of winning an Olympic medal but could not do so. To fulfil his dream, he has established a campus in about 50 acres of land to train kids. He added, “I plan to build one more campus such that both boys and girls can get proper training.”

When asked about if family had any objection to his decision of donating his entire earning, he told ANI, “Absolutely no problem. I have given my daughter 2 per cent of my property and one per cent to my wife. Rest 97 per cent, I am giving back to the society.”

Recounting his days in the service he said, “When I was 20 years, and I was working in the Air Force, my officers called one gentleman GD Naidu from Coimbatore as a Chief Guest. He said that India was a great country because our sages thought that we should give back to our society, once our family responsibility is over.”

The ex-airman said that he found Rajnath Singh happy as a simple sepoy was giving all his earning back to the defence of the country.
