After father Karan Singh, former Jammu and Kashmir legislator and Congress veteran Vikramaditya Singh on Thursday comes out in support of Centre's move to revoke Article 370 and bifurcate the state into two Union Territories - Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Taking to Twitter, Singh posted a five-stanza letter, where he expressed his views with regard to the full integration and re-organisation of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. "This is the beginning of a new era for all of us in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The full integration of J-K State into the Union of India and its reorganisation is indeed a step that I fully support, Singh wrote.

Shedding light to the positive outcomes of the decision, he said, "Now, Women and Minority communities in J-K will enjoy equal rights under the Constitution of India". "US citizens of Jammu and Kashmir must now co-exist as equal partners and use this change as an opportunity to create a better future for the coming generations," the Congress leader stated.

With expectation of a better scenario in the Valley, he further said, "I look forward a new J-K with a progressive and peaceful environment, with greater business and industrial development, private sector investment and greater employment opportunities for our youth. I would eventually hope to see a full statehood of Jammu and Kashmir".

"I also endorse the views expressed by my father Dr Karan Singh in his statement made earlier today." the letter read.

Earlier in the day, Karan Singh said he does not agree with the Congress' blanket condemnation of the government's decision on Jammu and Kashmir and pointed out what he called were its several positives.

The former Rajya Sabha MP also recalled his father Hari Singh's decision to sign the Instrument of Accession with India in 1947 and said, "My sole concern is the welfare of all sections of people in the state".

The Indian government on Monday revoked Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and proposed that the state be bifurcated into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, in a bid to tackle head-on the vexatious 72-year-old problem wracking the soul of the nation.
