After withdrawing his allegations against former Punjab Cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will now apologise to Arun Jaitley, NDTV quoted AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj as saying.

Arun Jaitley had filed a criminal defamation case against Arvind Kejriwal for accusing him of corruption during his 13-year tenure as the head of the Delhi & District Cricket Association.

According to the report published in NDTV, the Aam Aadmi Party will now end the legal mess as the court cases are "exhausting and taking too much time".

The Chief Minister has also apologised to former Punjab Minister Bikram Singh Majithia for levelling allegations of the latter’s involvement in the drug trade.

"Now I've learnt that allegations are unfounded... I hereby withdraw all my statements and allegations made against you and apologise," Kejriwal, in a letter sent to Majithia and furnished in the court, said.

Showing the letter sent to him by Kejriwal, Majithia said, “It is a historical moment for me personally and may be otherwise also where a sitting chief minister has apologised for the remarks he had made.”

During his rallies in the run-up of Punjab Assembly Elections 2017, the Aam Aadmi Party chief terming the Akali Dal leader a “drug lord” promised his audience to “drag” him to jail if elected to power.

Responding to Kejriwal’s allegations, the former Punjab Minister had filed a defamation suit against him.
