Bank Employees Federation of India (Punjab) have written to the Election Commission seeking exemption from election duty, however other bank unions are likely to follow suits.
The employees highlighted the burden of working 12 to 18 during last 50 days of Demonetisation.
The recent cash crunch led to reports of frequent attacks by agitated customers on the bank officials, standing in queues at several places.
