The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party leaders O Panneerselvam and K Palaniswami, on Monday, sacked over 100 office bearers for bringing ‘disrepute’ to the party.

The two leaders announced that they have expelled 117 members belonging to the Sivaganga district of the party and its subunits, including KK Umadevan and Cholan CT Palanichamy, two former MLAs.

The members, allegedly, went against the party principles and ‘brought disrepute’ to it, which resulted in the leaders to take the extreme step, said Panneerselvam and Palaniswami in a joint statement.

They also asked their party workers not to have any talks with those expelled.

Palaniswami and Panneerselvam had in December warned those who go against the party that action will be taken, following its loss in the December 21 RK Nagar by-polls, which was won by sidelined party leader TTV Dhinakaran.

Earlier too, some party members were expelled by both Panneerselvama nd Palaniswami. On Saturday, as many as 144 office bearers were sacked by both from Tuticorin district.

O Panneerselvam and K Palaniswami merged their faction led by each of them in August 2017.
