Six medical students of the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh on Tuesday were rusticated for allegedly vandalishing a shop and thrashing its owner under the influence of alcohol in Uttarakhand, the official said.
The AIIMS administration rusticated six students for eroding the institute’s prestige, AIIMS Rishikesh Dean Surekha Kumar said.
According to police, around 70 to 80 students of the premier institute vandalised a shop and damaged vehicles parked on the Veerabhadra Road on Monday night.

An FIR was lodged against the students following a complaint from locals at Rishikesh Kotwali, police said.
They also assaulted the shop owner and damaged vehicles parked outside the store, Kotwali SHO Ritesh Kumar Shah said. Moreover, the students were allegedly in an inebriated state at the time of the incident, Shah added.
As per the official report, two medical students of the institute were being detained for further interrogation, as well as the CCTV camera was being examined to ascertain the incident.
