A Trichy-Dubai Air India flight with 136 passengers on board hit the air traffic control (ATC) compound wall during take off at Trichy Airport on Thursday, according to news agency ANI. It was then diverted to Mumbai. The flight was damaged under the belly and was declared unfit for operations after inspection at the Mumbai Airport.

Air India, in a statement, said that an internal inquiry had been set up and the pilot and the co-pilot have been de-rostered till the investigations are complete. Air India had informed the Directorate General of Civil Aviation about the incident. All passengers were landed safely at Mumbai airport and another aircraft from Mumbai to Dubai was arranged. The Air India Express flight was diverted to Mumbai after two of its wheels hit the wall at 1:19 am. The flight has landed safely in Mumbai. After landing in Mumbai, some damage were noticed on the aircraft. Another flight has been arranged to take the passengers from Mumbai to Dubai, Air India said.
