Akhilesh govt clears proposal to include 17 extremely backward castes in SC list

The Akhilesh Yadav Cabinet cleared on Thursday a crucial proposal to include 17 extremely backward castes (EBC) in Scheduled Castes (SC).

The decision comes at a time when the state is heading for assembly elections.

Notably, the Centre too had issued a notification earlier this month to include fifteen new castes in the central list of Other Backward Castes.
